...a stockings blog for everyone.

Only 18 hours left to enter my one year anniversary giveaway.
Much like my love for leopard print, I've made no secret of the fact that I also enjoy a good tattoo print. Be it the overtly retro stylings of Sailor Jerry or the more ethereal, artistic approach taken by Bebaroque, I really, really dig tattoos.

My readers with vintage figures will be happy to know that most of the bras and corselettes listed are for curvy women, with sizes ranging from 38C to 38DD and beyond. Best of all, shipping to the U.S. is a flat rate of £5, no matter how many items you buy.
It's time for news, and boy, do I have lots of it!

FairyGothMother just released photos of their new season's collection online. As usual, they offer a rich selection of extravagant, elaborate designs which combine luxurious European styling with a refined British sensibility. Unfortunately, considering the state of the global economy, it's a bit difficult to justify spending several hundred pounds on an outfit you may only wear once or twice.
Those looking for a bit more coverage or cinching power may want to try What Katie Did's new "baby" underbust corset. At 7.5" long, this corset extends from the bottom of the rib cage to the top of the hips, but still retains WKD's curve-friendly goring. La Magia sells the baby underbust for £120, but with the 15% discount code readers of this blog have (PINK123), it comes out to only £102 (approximately $148.00).
Knickers Blog is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the better lingerie blogs out there. They're my go-to source for info on the best sales, lingerie designers, and practical advice (how do you wear nipple tassles?).
Well, almost anyway...
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting internationally renowned and respected fetish model, KumiMonster. Not only is she a genuinely nice person, she has a wardrobe I would kill for (I'm exaggerating only slightly ...). Since today is her birthday, I thought I'd do a bit of a "Happy Birthday" post here on my blog. The following is taken directly from the bio on her website.

As part of my mission to spread the gospel of nylon seduction everywhere, I've started a Twitter account.
Now that the first event of the year is over, I've been thinking about what's next. With Spring just around the corner, I want to bring a bit "freshness" to the blog. Here is a list of things I'm thinking of implementing in the next few weeks:
--a giveaway to celebrate my 1 year blogging anniversary!
Right now, I'm sitting in a coffeeshop, sipping on a vanilla latte, and wearing the last pair of tights I'm reviewing for the first ever Fishnet Stockings Week. Tomorrow will likely be just a review of what we've done so far, and by "review," I mean lots of gratuitous fishnet photos.
It's no secret that I like leopard print. What started off as a passing fancy for a certain pin-up panty has since developed into a full blown fixation. In recent months, I've acquired leopard print girdles, leopard print bras, leopard print swimuits, and now...leopard print stockings.

As far as fit, these tights are comfortable though not quite so much as the other high end tights I reviewed yesterday by Falke. The fishnet is a regular size. I bought these in the camel color, and I have to say I think the cobalt or hot pink might work better on skin tones like mine. As you can see in the picture, there are some places where the pattern just kind of fades away.
My stockings of choice for the first ever Fishnet Friday were by the oft-mentioned (in this blog anyway) luxury brand, Falke. In case you don't feel like slogging through a years worth of entries, Falke holds a very special place in my nylon obsessed heart. Their Lunelle thigh highs (you know, the ones with the peacock feather welts) were my very first post ever. In fact, you could credit Falke with sparking the radical shift in consciousness that led to the creation of this blog. Quite suddenly, I realized stockings could be more than an accessory...so much more.
As far as how they feel, well...it's like wearing nothing at all on your legs. Literally five minutes after I put these on, I completely forgot about them. I didn't have the same issues with banding as I had with the Aristoc tights. They're also very durable, surviving both my increasingly rough fingers (I've begun martial arts training again), and an evening of a curious baby sticking his fingers inside the holes.
Today, I'm reviewing the Aristoc mini fishnet tights. Made by one of the United Kingdom's leading hosiery brands, the mini fishnet tights are available in the colors black and nude and in the sizes S/M and M/L, fitting a maximum height of 5'10" and maximum hip measurement of 48," according to the size chart.
While you won't exactly forget you're wearing these tights, they are extremely comfortable. I wore the mini-fishnets on two separate occasions for about eight hours each time, and only towards the end did I begin experiencing "leg fatigue" (you know...that prickly feeling when your skin is telling you it needs to rest). Even then, these tights didn't leave any of the uncomfortable indentations on my legs that other budget tights have. The size of the net itself is between a regular fishnet and a micronet, not really falling into either category.
I did a bit of research before writing this article, and let me start off by saying that I am tired of people assuming that fishnets are automatically trashy, or that they're only suitable for sex workers, or that "good" girls (whatever the hell that means) don't wear them.
Point blank...there is no right or wrong way to wear fishnet stockings.
The size of the nets themselves are on a continuum. At one end, you have micronet (sometimes called tulle) tights and stockings. In the middle, we have what we'll call "regular" fishnets, using a diamond pattern in which each space is approximately 1/16" wide. At the other end, there are stringer nets (also called fencenets or whale nets) which consist of extra large diamonds. Think lots of skin, very little nylon. A fourth pattern, not quite as popular as the other three, is the industrial net which comes between regular fishnets and fence nets in size.
While the most popular fishnet colors are black and nude, they are available with as many potential variations as knit stockings ranging from multiple colors to backseams to welts and so on. As with anything else, quality matters. Better quality fishnets (which often, though not always) have a higher price equal more durable stockings which will hold their shape after multiple wearings.
So when is it appropriate to wear fishnets? As with garter belts, first decide on your intentions. Are you looking to "tart it up" for a night of clubbing, bar hopping, and partying? Do you want to add just a bit of an edge to your office wear? Are you going for a retro pin-up look? Only once you've decided why you're wearing the fishnets will you be able to determine the best fishnets for you.
For a night on the town, however, you could try layering black fishnets over opaque tights (my preference, especially for industrial and whale nets). Some of my punk, goth, and fetish friends like to layer different colored fishnets on top of each other, perhaps a green fishnet over a yellow one or a red net over a black one. For the more adventurous among us, Celeste Stein makes fishnets with a startling array of patterns.
Fishnets never go out of style; they're a classic metaphor for sexiness. To me, fishnets are the epitome of the tease, both revealing and concealing. They're interactive, textural, and often titillating to both the wearer and the observer.
Unlike a lot of the stuff I write about here, I'm almost certain most of you have seen someone in fishnets before. Fishnet stockings are a staple piece in almost every woman's wardrobe, lingerie fetishist or no. Unlike other fetish related items (say latex or corsets), fishnets make a regular appearance in mainstream media, from comics to movies to literature. My nickname for them is "instant sexy" because they're the easiest way to add sass and spark to even the most mundane outfit.
Fishnet Stockings Week starts March 4th and continues through March 11th. We'll start with a brief, technical overview of what defines the fishnet and talk about some basic differences in type and style of net. Immediately afterwards, I'm going to start posting reviews. Expect to see thorough discussions of fishnet hose from brands as diverse as Wolford, Falke, Betsey Johnson, Jonathan Aston, Aristoc, and Secrets in Lace. The goal for me is to have you, my readers, not only become more acquainted with fishnet stockings in general but also to have a better idea of which fishnets would be best for you.
